FocusLink is designed to place employees in a transitional, off-site nonprofit agency,
when the employer cannot accommodate a temporary transitional return to work option.
Why consider FocusLink?

Studies have shown that workers who remain productive during their medical rehabilitation typically heal faster and return to work more quickly. If an employer doesn’t have a light duty assignment available, FocusLink provides the assignment through a nonprofit partner. This can reduce the duration of lost-time and in turn, help to control the cost of the claim. Our FocusLink Return to Work Coordinators handle all aspects of the placement, from beginning to end, keeping all involved parties informed of progress along the way.

Benefits of FocusLink:
How Does FocusLink Work?

Our highly experienced FocusLink Return to Work Coordinators work closely with designated pre-screened and approved nonprofit volunteer agencies to match a worker’s restrictions, location, and current capabilities to an appropriate temporary assignment.

The worker then provides service to the nonprofit, abiding by the physician’s orders, and the employer pays an hourly wage to the employee to compensate them for their volunteer hours. All aspects of the program are documented in writing with copies provided to the employee, employer and insurance carrier as requested. The program is closely monitored to ensure success and compliance with the employer’s policies and employee’s physical capabilities.

Joan, construction industry employer

The industry that I work in does not lend itself to light duty work. We have tried to find modified options for our workers in the past and have not been successful. We tried FocusLink and have been extremely happy with the results. They keep me informed of my employee’s progress and are quick to resolve any problems before they get out of hand. We have also realized a cost savings to the claim as our employees seem to return to work much faster than if they were staying home collecting disability payments.
